PIMCO’s clients include corporate pension plans, foundations, endowments, public retirement plans, global central banks, corporate treasury departments and a wide range of global institutional investors. PIMCO also serves high net worth families and retail investors through our mutual fund offerings. We offer clients a wide spectrum of choices to help achieve investment goals consistent with their needs and risk tolerance.

Where did we come from
PIMCO began in 1971 with three founders, an idea (revolutionary at the time) that fixed income assets could be actively traded to enhance returns, and $12 million in assets under management. The three founders—Bill Gross, Jim Muzzy and Bill Podlich—established the firm in Newport Beach, California, first as a unit of Pacific Mutual Life Insurance and later as an independent institutional money manager. Since the firm’s founding, PIMCO has continued to pioneer new investment strategies and tools; we were among the earliest participants in the derivatives market, mortgage-backed securities, the emerging markets and other sectors of the global fixed income market. Our long history of innovation and our entrepreneurial culture remain a key element of who we are today.
