The PIMCO Foundation Announces $335,000 in Grants to Support Charities and Community Organizations

Newport Beach, California, January 24, 2006 — The PIMCO Foundation, the charitable organization of the Newport Beach-based fixed income manager firm PIMCO, today announced it has awarded $335,000 in 2005 grants to 22 California charities and community organizations.

 

“The PIMCO Foundation is very pleased to be providing these outstanding organizations with grants to help them improve the quality of life in California communities through educational, health and youth-related programs,” said Bill Thompson, President of The PIMCO Foundation.  “Our core values stress community involvement and the Foundation is just one way we give back.”

 

The 2005 grant recipients were:  Court Appointed Special Advocates of Orange County (CASA), Child Abuse Prevention Center (O.C.), Big Brother and Sisters of Orange County, AIDS Services Foundation of Orange County, The Discovery Science Center of Santa Ana, Irvine Adult Day Health Services, Speech and Language Development Center (O.C.), DisAbility Awareness Foundation (O.C.), Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (O.C.), Hispanic Scholarship Fund (CA), College Bound – Dollars for Achievers (CA), Center for Hope and Healing (O.C.), Girls and Boys Town of Southern California, The Eli Home(O.C.), Rebuilding Together Long Beach, The Orange County Council on Aging, Laguna Beach Senior Center, Laura’s House (O.C.), John Wayne Cancer Institute (CA), and Community Care Health Centers (O.C.). 

 

In addition, outside of the grants program, two organizations received surprise PIMCO Foundation Excellence Awards in 2005, Kidsingers of Santa Ana and Save Our Youth of Costa Mesa. 

 

The PIMCO Foundation also announced that their window for accepting grant applications has changed.  It will now open on May 15th and will close on July 15th.  Grant applications will be available on the PIMCO web site (www.pimco.com) starting in March 2006. 

 

Since The PIMCO Foundation was created in 2001, it has awarded $2 million in grants to charities and community organizations throughout California, and the U.S., for operating expenses and program support.
