PIMCO Colleagues Join a Multi-Company, Multi-Disciplinary Pro Bono Project Team in Ghana

In 2016, the PIMCO Foundation U.S. Board approved expansion of the firm’s global pro bono program. Three PIMCO colleagues – Marta Bezoari, Austin Cazort, and Tim Quagliarello – spent the month of June in Accra, Ghana as part of the Global Health Corporate Champions (GHCC) program. Now in its second year, four PIMCO employees – Mack Darrow, Josh Felice, Olivia Hipkins, and Chloe Kelley – have returned to Ghana.

This year, GHCC brings together professionals from PIMCO, SAP, The Dow Chemical Company, and WE Worldwide, for a one-month service immersion program in Accra. The projects focus on addressing clean water, food and nutrition security, and health system strengthening – all key public health issues in underserved communities. This diverse team is leveraging their business and operational expertise to improve the effectiveness of three local “host” organizations, leaving in place longer term sustainable capacity.

The GHCC is an activity of the USAID Global Health Fellows Program II (GHFP-II), which is executed by the Public Health Institute and addresses immediate and emerging human capital needs in the global health sphere.
