Ryota Kawai
Mr. Kawai is an executive vice president and portfolio manager in the Tokyo office, focusing on macro and relative value strategies in Japan. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2024, he worked as an executive director in the fixed income derivatives – rates trading team at Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities in Tokyo. Previously, he worked in interest rate and currency derivatives trading at Merrill Lynch Japan Securities (now BofA Securities), Citigroup Securities in Tokyo and Australia, and Deutsche Bank. He has 20 years of investment experience and holds undergraduate degrees in economics and politics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
