Future Leaders Scholarship

About the Scholarship

Founded in 2021, PIMCO’s Future Leaders Scholarship (FLS) began with a commitment of $1 million total, but has since expanded up to $2 million, amounting to about $30,000 per recipient. Current undergraduate sophomores, current or future (Fall 2024) master’s degree students, and current doctoral students are invited to apply.

FLS is designed for students from underrepresented communities who have an interest in investment management and wish to pursue a career in finance by way of continued education. Scholarships will be awarded to candidates who have the potential to excel as leaders and exhibit PIMCO’s CORE values of collaboration, openness, responsibility, and excellence.

Eligibility Criteria

Must be a current United States (U.S.) Citizen or Permanent Resident

Meet one or more of the following:

Self-identify as Black, African, or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander
First generation college student
Pell grant eligible
Attend an accredited Historically Black College or University (HBCU) or Hispanic Serving Institution (HIS)

In good academic standing as of the application deadline:

Minimum grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent
Pursuing a relevant degree or career in financial services or an adjacent industry

Undergraduate-specific criteria:

Currently an enrolled sophomore in an accredited U.S. college or university
Graduating between December 2025 – June 2026
Plan to enroll in a fulltime undergraduate study at an U.S. accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year

Graduate-specific criteria:
