J. R. Scott

Economist

J. R. Scott is a vice president and economist in the Newport Beach office, focusing on the U.S. and Japan. He helps craft the firm’s economic and monetary policy outlook and contributes to quarterly economic forums. He is also a member of the research groups of the Americas Portfolio Committee and the Asia-Pacific Portfolio Committee. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2024, Dr. Scott obtained his Ph.D. in financial economics from MIT, where his research spanned macro-finance, asset pricing, and public finance. He holds an undergraduate degree in mathematics and economics from the University of Southern California.
