Christopher J. Brightman

Mr. Brightman is a senior advisor to Research Affiliates, a subadvisor to PIMCO. In this role, he focuses on conducting research and authoring articles for journal publication. As of late, he has focused on both macroeconomic topics, notably the long-term effects of fiscal deficits, and portfolio construction, specifically approaches that can be used to address the flaw of growth indices that favor expensive companies rather than growing businesses. Mr. Brightman has more than 30 years of investment experience, including as board chair of The Investment Fund for Foundations, chief executive officer of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company, chief investment officer of Strategic Investment Group, director of global equity strategy at UBS Asset Management, and senior portfolio manager at Brinson Partners. He was also a board and investment committee member of the Virginia Tech Foundation. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Loyola University, Maryland.
