Graeme Westwood

Economist
Mr. Westwood is a vice president and economist in the Newport Beach office, focusing on Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the U.S. He helps craft the firm’s economic and monetary policy outlook and contributes to quarterly economic forums. He is also a member of the research group of the Americas portfolio committee and the Asia portfolio committee. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2023, he was a senior economist at the Bank of Canada. He has nine years of investment and economics/financial markets experience and holds a graduate degree in financial economics from the University of Toronto and an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Western Ontario.
Economic and Market Commentary

We believe the Canadian bond market is overemphasizing inflation risk from U.S. tariffs, presenting an opportunity in high quality bonds.

With inflation moderating, we expect the Bank of Canada to cut rates later this year.
