Chris Brightman

Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer, Research Affiliates


Mr. Brightman is chief executive officer and chief investment officer at Research Affiliates, a subadvisor to PIMCO. As CEO, he leads the firm by establishing its business strategy and policies to execute on its mission of conducting cutting-edge research to provide insights and products for the benefit of investors. As CIO, he leads the investment teams, supervises research and development activities, and oversees the provision of index strategies. With Rob Arnott, he is co-portfolio manager on the PIMCO All Asset, PIMCO All Asset All Authority and PIMCO RAE (Research Affiliates Equity) strategies. Mr. Brightman has more than 30 years of investment experience, including as board chair of The Investment Fund for Foundations, chief executive officer of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company, chief investment officer of Strategic Investment Group, director of global equity strategy at UBS Asset Management, and senior portfolio manager at Brinson Partners. He was also a board and investment committee member of the Virginia Tech Foundation. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Loyola University, Maryland.
