He conducts capital asset and business cycle research and contributes to Research Affiliates’ publications. He is responsible for quantitative research and development in the areas of signal generation, optimization, and portfolio construction across the firm’s suite of multi-asset strategies. Prior to joining Research Affiliates, Dr. Shakernia was a senior technical specialist at Northrop Grumman, where he conducted research and technology development for unmanned vehicles. Dr. Shakernia holds a master's degree in financial engineering from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA. He also received bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering and computer sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.
