Sean Klein

Head of Client Business Strategy – Client Solutions and Analytics


Mr. Klein is an executive vice president on the client solutions and analytics team in the Newport Beach office. Prior to rejoining PIMCO in 2019, he was head of wholesale stress testing at MUFG Union Bank. Earlier in his career, he headed empirical model development and special consulting services at Kamakura Corporation. Mr. Klein also teaches financial econometrics at the University of California, Irvine’s Merage School of Business. He has conducted commissioned research for the U.S. government and for the Society of Actuaries, and he has published research on the use of neural networks in financial risk modeling. He has 12 years of investment and financial services experience and holds a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
